Park advisory: Trail closures
Several unmarked trails beyond Sentinel Hill and the Pine Basin area remain closed following the discovery of unidentified human remains earlier this season. The closure is precautionary and allows investigators, rangers, and environmental staff to assess both public safety and site integrity.
Officials have emphasized that no immediate threat to visitors has been identified. Even so, the northern sector will remain under controlled review while survey teams document marked ground, communications irregularities, and the relationship between the recovery site and nearby environmental-monitoring equipment.
Visitors are advised to remain on clearly marked routes and avoid any taped grids, unmarked side paths, or temporary field tents. Unauthorized entry into sealed zones after dusk is prohibited under park regulations and may interfere with ongoing analysis.
Rangers have also asked visitors to report damaged signage, unfamiliar markers, or repeated radio interference in the vicinity of Sentinel Hill and Deer's Flats. Older route names may still appear on copied maps or temporary field paperwork and should not be treated as active public trail designations.
