Visitor Centers & Maps
Use this page to locate visitor orientation stops, compare the park's main access areas, and review map guidance for the valley's larger districts.
For longer day trips, visitors are encouraged to carry a paper map and ask at a staffed stop about weather, wildlife areas, and route changes before leaving the main road.
Main Visitor Center
Open daily with exhibits, trail-condition boards, ranger talks, and printed maps marked for seasonal hazards, closures, and wildlife-sensitive zones.
North Gate Information Kiosk
A smaller stop for early arrivals with closure cards, emergency phone information, and recent notices about access past Pine Basin and the northern sector.
South Meadow Pull-In
A basic orientation stop with parking, trailhead notices, and quick guidance for visitors headed toward Deer's Flats and the lower meadow roads.
District Overview Maps
Printed maps usually separate the park into ridge, basin, meadow, river, and lowland travel areas so visitors can better match routes with weather, terrain, and time available.
Map Tips
Carry a paper map, mark your vehicle location, and confirm all late-day route changes with posted signage rather than copied internet directions or improvised markers.
